"Contending for the Faith: A Call to Vigilance"

Beloved in Christ,

In a world filled with diverse beliefs and teachings, Jude's epistle serves as a timely reminder to contend earnestly for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. This is not a call to argument or strife, but a call to vigilance, to hold fast to the truth of the Gospel in the face of false teachings and immoral behavior.

Scripture Reading: Jude 1:3-16 (KJV)

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ... Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core."

Jude warns us of "certain men" who have crept into the church, distorting the grace of God and denying the Lordship of Jesus Christ. These individuals are not just misguided; they are dangerous, leading others astray and causing division within the body of Christ.

The epistle draws on historical examples like Cain, Balaam, and Korah (Core) to illustrate the consequences of such behavior. These figures represent rebellion, greed, and gainsaying, respectively—traits that have no place in the Kingdom of God.

As you go about your day, be vigilant. Test every teaching against the Word of God, and hold fast to the truth of the Gospel. Remember, we are not just called to believe the faith; we are called to contend for it, to defend it against falsehood and to live it out in our daily lives.

In the grace of our Lord,
