"The Fullness of Waiting: Time, Service, and God's Work"

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Beloved in Christ,

The concept of waiting is often misunderstood in our fast-paced world. Isaiah 40:31 provides a rich understanding of what it means to "wait upon the LORD." This waiting is not a passive idleness but an active engagement with God, a dynamic relationship that renews our spiritual vigor.

In the original Hebrew, the term for "wait" can also mean "to serve," much like a waiter attends to a table. This dual meaning enriches our understanding of the verse. Waiting on the Lord is not just about time; it's also about service and devotion to God's work.

Jesus, in the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), teaches us the importance of being spiritually prepared and vigilant. The wise virgins had their lamps filled with oil, symbolizing a life filled with the Spirit and ready for the Lord's return. This is active waiting—being engaged in God's work and prepared for His coming.

Paul's words in Colossians 3:23-24 also echo this sentiment. "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." Whether in the church, workplace, or home, our service should be done with excellence and devotion, as unto the Lord. This is waiting in action, serving God in the present while anticipating His future promises.

So, as you navigate the challenges of life, remember that waiting is not merely a period to endure but a posture to embrace. It's a time to renew your strength in God, to prepare for Christ's return, and to serve wholeheartedly in whatever capacity God has placed you.

Thank you,
Jeremy
